Buying new gaming laptop soon, I've got some questions

Hello, I'll be ordering a Clevo P650SG at the end of this month. It will be configured as follows:

15.6” full HD IPS LED Matte, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4GB

CORE i7-4720HQ Quad-Core 2.6 - 3.6GHz

Crucial 16GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz CL9, 1.35v

Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 Carat Thermal Compound

Samsung 256GB 850 Pro Series SSD

Killer Dual Band Wireless - AC N1525

CENTOS Pre-Installed CentOS Linux 64-bit

This configuration comes out at $1825...

1 - First of all, I want to know what does "No Support" mean when choosing a Linux OS?

2 - Also, is Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 the best thermal paste? Or which one would you recommend?

3 - I have read on a lot of forums about people repasting their CPUs after first receiving their laptops... Is this necessary with AVADIRECT laptops?

4 - I'm very very picky when it comes to display quality, that's why I opted for IPS... Is backlight bleeding an issue with this Full HD IPS display? Does AVADIRECT guarantee backlight bleed free displays?

5 - Also, I'm planning on installing windows 7 myself when I receive the computer since I already have a license... Is it possible to ask for a windows 7 non-licensed install instead of linux and just put license key when I receive the laptop?

6 - And why are there no Kingston 16GB 8x2 kits with CL 9?

7 - Whats the average shipping time from the day that I order to the day I receive the laptop? I'm planning on ordering it around march 26th and I want to have it by april 16.

Thanks in advance :)

    Hello Matt,

My name is Eric, and I'd be happy to assist you.

1 - We still have a warranty in place on components and parts and the system is tested, however we do not support any OS functions with any Linux OS since it is open source.

2 - Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 is an excellent thermal compound.

3 - We do typically recommend this, as we apply thermal compound here while the system is in assembly, and run a three day testing/burn-in on the notebook before shipping.  If a compound upgrade isn't selected, we will use the compound included with the CPU from Intel.

4 - We have not seen any issues with the screens on any of our models.  In an extreme case, you can contact our technical support team with pictures of the display to advise, and they can contact Clevo.

5 - We do not have any non-licensed copies available for Windows.  We can however complete the notebook with no OS if you are planning on installing later.  This can be done by special request.

6 - Kingston 16GB (2 x 8GB) HyperX PnP PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz SDRAM SODIMM, CL9, 1.5V, Non-ECC is currently not in stock with any of our vendors.  The Crucial kit you selected is an excellent choice.  :D

7 - Lead time on our notebooks is 10-14 business days from payment for shipment.  This includes parts allocation, assembly, testing/burn-in, and quality control.

Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you have any further questions, or would like an official quote.

    Thank you Matt!
