Western Digital Unleashes New Range of Velociraptor Hard Disks
Western Digital released a new generation of their Velociraptor hard drives for availability later last week. The folks over at TweakTown had the liberty of testing one of these bad boys and will soon have some benchmarks and performance results posted once they finish. Apparently, Western Digital claims there will be a 15% performance increase, from previous models, with the new 600GB SATA 6Gbps, 32MB cache model. This would certainly be very promising to those gaming enthusiasts that crave power at an affordable price.
"For the most part the new series hasn't changed drastically, but it does bring with it SATA 6Gbps support, 32MB cache and in the case of the top-end model, twice the capacity at 600GB. WD claims a 15% performance gain from the new series of Velociraptors when compared to their previous gen line-up".
