Ok guys, these cards are going to be some of the most powerful and anticipated cards hitting the market sometime in summer.  The companies like BFG and eVGA are being very tight-lipped about the specs and pricing.  That doesn't mean we cannot list some rumors we have been hearing though.

The core will be called the GT200.  The 8800 cores were the G80 and G92 while the newer 9000 series were based on the G94 cores.  Pricing will be about $500 for the 9900 GTX.

"The cooling device, which looks similar to the current cooler on the 8800 GTS 512 MB, is said to fit onto a GT200-based GeForce 9900 GTX with 240 stream processors, 32 raster units, 1 GB of GDDR3, and 512-bit memory interface. Unlike the current 9800-series that were based on G92 die, the GT200 will be built on a new architecture.

From the reference design of the cooler, the cooler is believed to accommodate a 65nm chip, while 55nm revisions of the GPU to follow after launch. Thermal design of the cooler also points towards a 240-watt graphics card. The new GPU from NVIDIA is rumored to be for the high-end market only and will consist of the largest chip design from the company and over 1.5 billion transistors."

I'm going to wait till they release to order my new system xD. How much faster will it be than a 9800GX2?

And Matt, do you know when AVA would be able to have it as a configuration option? Thanks.

You could always order the system now, and then step up into one of these cards.  We are an eVGA step-up partner.

Supposively they are looking from 30% - 50% performance increase with the new cores.

As soon as they are available which I believe is June 18.  However, it might take a few days for our distribution centers to get them in stock.

Hehe, I know what you mean. I was hoping to wait until the new cards were released to order my system, but Age of Conan kicks my current P4 3.0GHz system to the curb, so I ordered on Friday.

I already know that I will be getting one of the new video cards. I chose a BFG Tech video card with my new computer so that I could use their Step-Up program if I stay with a nVidia card.

*EDIT* Stupid BFG won't let you use their Trade-Up Program if you get your card with a complete system :( Stick with eVGA if you want to be able to use a Step-Up Program with your AVA system. Oh well, at least I won't feel like I'm losing money if I switch over to a new ATI HD 4870.

Oh wow that's really good to know. Before heather of puget said step up is only with directly purchased cards. I may still wait though...gotta get some community service out of the way first :D

Just fyi, it's only eVGA that works with system builders like AVA Direct. With BFG Tech, it's still only a directly purchased card that will work for their Trade-Up Program. I found out the hard way :( I should've read BFG's Terms & Conditions first.

We are currently working with BFG to be in their Step-Up program.  I do not know if we are going to be certified, or if we do, if your cards would be covered.

Try calling Misha, I do not think it would be that hard to transfer the card to eVGA as long as its a popular card.

Alrighty, I'll give Misha a call. I've been trying to get hold of Joe today, but haven't been able to, so I sent him an e-mail. I just asked if I could switch from the BFG to the eVGA card. The eVGA is actually clocked 5MHz lower and is more expensive, but I'll be using it for stepping up, anyway. I can spend $30 to save $300 :)

Well that was quick! Misha had already seen my e-mail and switched out the card for me. I love AVA Direct

Thanks for the reminder :) It's updated now. I'm glad they increased the character count from 200 to 500
