I'm looking to buy a new gaming pc, and I've decided to purchase from AVADirect. Here is the PC that I plan on ordering.
GAMING PC Core™ i5 / i7 Z68 2-way SLI® / CrossFireX™ Custom Gaming System $1244.24 $1244.24 INTEL Core™ i5-2500K Quad-Core 3.3 - 3.7GHz TB, HD Graphics 3000, LGA1155, 6MB L3 Cache, 32nm, 95W, EM64T EIST VT-x XD, Retail SERVICE Mild Overclocking, 10-20% Performance Increase CORSAIR H40 Hydro CPU Liquid Cooling System, Socket LGA1155/1156/1366/775/FM1/AM3/AM2, Retail GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3, LGA1155, Intel® Z68, DDR3-2133 32GB /4, PCIe x16 SLI CF /1+1*, SATA 3Gb/s RAID 5 /2, 6Gb/s /2, VGA+DVI+HDMI, USB 3.0 /2, HDA, GbLAN, ATX, Retail CORSAIR 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V SDRAM DIMM, Non-ECC ASUS ENGTX560 DCII TOP/2DI/1GD5, GeForce® GTX 560 925MHz, 1GB GDDR5 4200MHz, PCIe x16 SLI, 2x DVI + mini-HDMI, Retail SEAGATE 500GB Barracuda® 7200.12, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 16MB cache RAID No RAID, Independent HDD Drives SONY AD-7280S Black 24x DVD±R/RW Dual-Layer Burner, SATA, OEM LIAN LI Lancool Dragon Lord K PC-K58W Black Mid-Tower Case w/ Window, ATX, No PSU, Steel/Plastic CUSTOM WIRING Standard Wiring with Precision Cable Routing and Tie-Down COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M 850W Power Supply w/ Modular Cables, 80 PLUS® Bronze, ATX12V 2.3 EPS12V 2.92, 6x 8/6-pin PCIe, SLI® Certified, Retail MICROSOFT Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition w/ SP1, OEM GAMING PC Silver Warranty Package (3 Year Limited Parts, 3 Year Labor Warranty) SERVICE Standard Shipping (UPS, DHL, or Fedex) I have a few questions regarding this. Will LIAN LI Lancool Dragon Lord K PC-K58W Black Mid-Tower Case w/ Window, ATX, No PSU, Steel/Plastic support a CORSAIR H40 Hydro CPU Liquid Cooling System? Do I need to select a coolant if the CORSAIR H40 Hydro CPU Liquid Cooling System is selected, or does the CORSAIR H40 come standard w/ coolant? Is an 850W psu overkill for this system? My knowledge of internal pc components is limited, so any suggestions or feedback would be great. Edited by jmmacor - 03 May 2012 at 1:44am |

Hello jmmacor,
Welcome to AVADirect Forums!
I enjoy the configuration you have put together; very solid system, especially for gaming. Allow me to address your questions.
Judging from the dimensions of the rear 120mm fan position, a Corsair liquid cooling unit should fit. However, I recommend upgrading to a better Corsair cooler for the sake of your overclocking; something like this will work perfectly: http://www.avadirect.com/Corsair-H80
If you did not plan to overclock, the Corsair H40 unit would be acceptable. Overclocking will add more heat, thus possibly providing less than desirable results. These units are closed-loop, so there's no requirement to add coolant.
The power supply requirements depend entirely on your intentions for the system. As of right now, 850w is more than you need. A 650w would be perfect, still allowing minor upgrades, and keeping your power supply cool by not exceeding it's maximum output. However, if you feel that you may upgrade the graphics setup to SLI then an 850w is perfect. If SLI is a foreseeable option for you, then my remaining suggestion would be to look into a Corsair power supply. CoolerMaster power supplies have sometimes had problems with power management relative to an SLI setup. The 12v rails can sometimes fluctuate their power output, thus causing instability in your system. Plus, Corsair power supplies are a bit quieter.
Feel free to continue posting any questions you may have!
