Oops...continuing from above, I just looked on AVA's site and saw that they now offer the 9800 GTX in notebooks.

Here's a very important tip about gaming notebooks: get the best CPU and GPU that are available because games are improving so fast that your notebook will be outdated much sooner than you expect. I bought a notebook 1 yr and 10 months ago and had the best CPU and GPU available put in it. Last week I bought Mass Effect, and my notebook won't play it at all. I bought Assassin's Creed, and I have to play it on the very lowest settings, which is dissapointing.
Right now the best available CPU for notebooks is the Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000, and the best notebook GPU is nVidia 8800 GTX. I recommend that you get those, and don't be surprised if they're outdated in less than 2 years.
Also, be aware that the GPU put into notebooks is different (not as good) than the one put in desktops, even though they have the same number. In other words, the 8800 GTX made for laptops isn't as good as the 8800 GTX made for desktops. So, if you're looking to buy a game and under Requirements it says that an 8800 GTX is OK, the game may not play on your notebook, but it will play on a desktop. This is because of the lesser amount of space inside a notebook, so the manufacturer has to make the GPU slightly different so it will fit inside.

Hello Glbobo,

       Your notebook configuration looks great!

I have but only one suggestion...

I noticed you selected turbo memory, which is only compatible with Windows Vista. Unless you actually decide to take the "Plunge" to Vista, it will not be necessary.

Other then that, I have nothing but great expectations for this particular notebook. :-)

Feel free to PM me with more questions or concerns, you regarding your choice.

Kind Regards,
Joseph Mundy

Once I get the B. Franklins together, this will be the system I would like as my first laptop build:

COMPAL, FL92S+ (JFL92120012) Core™2 Duo Black Glossy CBB Notebook Barebone, Socket P, Intel® PM965, 15.4" WSXGA+ TFT Glossy, FPR, NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT 512MB Graphics... Need

INTEL, Core™ 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz Processor, 800MHz FSB, 6MB L2 cache, 35.0W, 45nm, Retail... Need

Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 667 Dual Channel Memory, 200-Pin SODIMM, CL4, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, Model: KHX5300S2LLK2/4G... Have

SEAGATE, 160GB Momentus 7200.2, 7200 RPM, 8MB cache, 2.5-Inch, SATA 3 Gb/s, w/ G-Force protection... Have

INTEL, 1GB Intel® Turbo Memory, Internal PCIe Mini Card (Compatible with Windows Vista Only)... Have

INTEL, Wireless-N WiFi Link 4965AGN, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/Draft N, 11/54/300 Mbps, Internal PCIe Mini Card... Have

BROADCOM, Internal Bluetooth Module v2.0 for Compal  FT0x/EL8x/FL9x  Series Notebooks... Need

Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit... Need

It may take a couple more weeks. I have been buying the parts for a couple weeks and am now researching the 32 bit vs. the 64 bit Vista's pros and cons.
I have yet to take the Vista plunge and I believe this system should have no problems running 64 bit... any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Ya'll, Watch this...
