That's interesting...
It looks like ATI created some cheaper 4800 series cards for the mid-end/ low range PC market. Not a bad idea, and if you ask me, could actually help ATI in the race against Nvidia.
Between the two, ATI proved better image quality in the past. These cards could be definite sellers for those that mainly use PC's for video purposes.
Kind Regards,

Misfate,
We have just recently added the 4670 and 4650 from ATI at price points of $99 and $89 respectively.
These cards should be at the $40 to $60 price points.
As far as performance, these should be at or around the 9500 GT and 9300 GT performance numbers from NVidia. We will probably add them as soon as they come to market. Edited by MattSlagle - 01 Oct 2008 at 1:50pm |

Speaking of ATI, I heard they're going to release a 4830 as a 9800 gt killer.

Considering the 9800 GT is just a clone of the 8800 GT, ATI is about 9 months late to the party. Unless they release it soon, they might as well not bother.
However, ATI needs a card in the 100 - 150 range. Currently, they do not have a 4000 series card yet in that spot.
