mATX CrossFire System Now At AVADirect

I think that I can safely say that AVADirect is currently the only System Integrator that offers a CrossFire system in a mATX form factor.  All this is thanks to DFI, who has listened to the Enthusiast crowd and released the first mATX CrossFire motherboard that is Enthusiast friendly.  Early reports have shown this system to overclock the FSB by as much as 80%.  And with the Core 2 structure, overclocking the FSB is so much more important than overclocking the processor speed directly.

So for all the LAN gamers and people who need to game in a tight spot, we now have a powerful system that rivals systems twice as big.  Also, you do not need to lug a big and expensive notebook around when you have got this system.  I myself am a mATX enthusiast, and I really wish this board was out when I built my system a few months ago.

So how is this system better then the Shuttle systems which also support CrossFire?

  • Supports the full range of Core 2 processors all the way to the Extremes,
  • Supports the usage of two dual-slot video cards (4870 X2)
  • Much more powerful PSU selections
  • Not limited in upgrade options.

With the current trend toward smaller motherboards and systems, be prepared to see more and more Enthusiast type mATX systems.  DFI should be releasing an SLI enabled motherboard shortly, but with ATI currently leading in the video card market, I do not see a reason for it.
