Adaptec by PMC's maxCache Plus solution introduces a revolutionary new tiering software for direct-attach-storage data management. Our new tiering solution is a secured (non-opened source) filter driver. The architecture establishes a presence in the management layer of the host server and can manage any underlying hardware. The solution supports any/all block-level storage devices and structures it as storage space, with enhanced granularity of fast/faster/fastest media recognition.
The Series 8 "Q" products are equipped with maxCache Plus, supporting both caching and tiering functionality. This technology allows IT managers, system integrators, and ISV's to garner the fastest performance and best overall value from their storage assets. It provides flexibility to configure any & all storage devices in server environments and allows for the fastest media to be used as storage instead of just cache, maximizing the use of the newest 12Gb/s drives.
Series 8Q adapters include our third-generation AFM-700 flash-based cache protection module to enable instant battery-free cache protection. Unique for the Adaptec 81605ZQ, flash backup is embedded on the board, eliminating the need for a daughterboard.
All of the "Q" adapters utilize our Zero-Maintenance Cache Protection (ZMCP), which provides full protection to cached data with no monitoring, maintenance, disposal, or replacement costs. ZMCP features SLC based NAND flash memory with super capacitor technology. During a system power loss, the flash memory-based cache protection can preserve data for years.
