Possibly Defective GPU?

I love this computer, but my EVGA GTX780/TI is having problems. Text is either truncated or displayed awkwardly, there are problems with transparencies, sprites, and gradients, and there is screen tearing even with a proper refresh rate. What puzzles me is that the GPU and CPU have reported normal temperatures within tolerance limits (low, cool temps of 30/20) throughout their operational history, my ram is fine, the hard drives work, and this leads me to believe there is a problem with the graphics card itself.
Considering that I am under warranty, what would I have to do in order to recieve a new graphics card?

Hello Sartorius, I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue! Would you be able to take a screenshot of the problems you're describing, such as the truncated text or screen tearing? Can you also tell us what type of a monitor you use, what resolution and what type of connection (eg. VGA, DVI, HDMI, Display Port).

Have you tried using different ports on your video card? Give us some more details regarding your issue so we can help you determine the health status of the card.

    Kind regards,

I apologize for the lateness of this response. Though the card is currently plugged into a DVI port, I have tried all of the other available ports and experienced the same issue regardless of which is used; fluctuating brightness, problems rendering 2d graphics with transparencies,    (including HD), and occasional weird truncation or smearing of text. I am using an ASUS VE728 LCD Monitor at its maximum resolution; 1920x1080 @ 60hz.
However, I'm having problems actually recording these problems in a screenshot. Can you recommend a third-party program that can help me test some of these aspects?

Edit: I'm also encountering flicker and distortion when scrolling through the games list on Steam, though the graphics card has maintained a temperature of 27 degrees throughout, and this happens with each port, regardless of refresh rate or input type; even on my HD television.

    Sartorius,

If this problem follows both, different displays (TV & monitor) as well as different cables and different ports, then most likely the video card is at fault and should be replaced. Now, you can either replace the card directly through manufacturer, or you can send it to us if you feel comfortable removing it yourself. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, then you can send us the entire system and we'll test and replace the card here. Please let me know what you'd like to do and I will help you proceed further.

    Kind regards,

Given that I will need the computer to write a number of papers, I think I will hold on to it for right now, but I will definitely return it once I have a solution in place. Thank you for your help.

Now that my work schedule isn't so hectic, I'm interested in shipping the graphics card itself back. It is still functional, but the artifacting of 2D objects worsens. It seems like it's time to send it back. However, I have a few questions and concerns regarding the return of the item. I lack fine manual dexterity, so removing the card would be up to another person. Should I hire a specialist for the removal and reinstallation of the device, or would you recommend shipping the entire computer back, despite the cost and the obvious problems that the lack of a computer would cause?
What would the timeframe on the replacement of a EVGA 03G-P4-2784-KR be? What does my five-year warranty cover? Which is the most cost-effective solution?

I apologize for asking so many questions due to my overly excessive concern regarding the expensive nature of the device.

    Sartorious,

All parts are replaced by their respective manufacturers so the ETA on the replacement of the EVGA card ultimately relies on EVGA. Their turnaround time is typically 2 weeks. If you send the card directly to them, that's likely going to be your max downtime period. If you send it to us, we still need to go through EVGA so the replacement may take a little bit longer than that. If the replacement is time critical, then I would suggest the EVGA route better. If you need more information on how to get started, please let us know and I'll by happy to assist.

Well, the GPU has been getting steadily worse (heats up faster, more graphical errors) since I last posted, and now there's a problem with the time clock going out of sync. I think the computer's ready for an RMA.

    Hello Sartorius,

If you believe you have a defective item or a need to RMA a custom system purchased from AVADirect, please email [email protected] with a problem description, and the order number for the machine.
