My suggestion would be to find a way to expedite your RMA process.

    Hey guys and gals~

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post all of this. I just received my build yesterday and wow, what a monster this thing is! Makes my old Gateway look like a, well, Gateway!

A suggestion-the guy(s) that built my new box did an awesome job of wrapping and hiding the wires! It's awesome, however, I was unable to install any other hard drives without breaking a few wire ties! The same goes for the IDE port/plug on the motherboard, as well as 4 out of 6 SATA ports. I was going to install my DVD-CD/RW from the Gateway onto the new PC, but it's an IDE and it's going to have to wait until I have the time/energy/courage to undo the wire job and redo it all when I'm done. Like I said, they did a great job, as long as I didn't plan to use any of the 300.00 mobo's expansion....

Other than that, everything is amazing. I have to tell you to please let the boss know the following... (I'm sure you guys/gals can handle the wiring thing w/o him knowing!).

Asya and Scott (sales rep.) are wonderful people to work with. Too often, people are quick to break the balls of someone not living up to their usually over-amped expectations and not enough people take the time to let others know when some has been exemplary and gone above and beyond.

Scott knew I had a financial ceiling on this job and he helped me come in under it. I asked him at the onset if he worked for commission, and despite his answering that he does indeed work on points, he never once tried to upsell me on anything! In fact, he helped me put together a balanced system even though he had to down sell me on a couple things, like going w/ 6 GB of Dominator instead of 12, using the 8-8-8-24 instead of the 6-6-6 CAS more expensive RAM, going with the nVidia 285 instead of the 295... things of that sort. I was going to buy a 1000 watt PSU and he told me I could go with the less expensive Antec 850, etc. I mean, the guy was amazing and almost unbelievably so. It's help like that which will make me come back.

I was also going to spend the money to have my machine fast-tracked through assembly because I expected my old POS system to die any day. Scott told me I didn't have to worry-my computer would make it w/i the advertised 7-10 days. After being ripped off recently over the Internet on a digital camera 'deal', I was a little gunshy anyway, so I called when I could tell I wouldn't be getting the box w/i the 10 days. I also emailed, explaining being a little concerned... Asya didn't hesitate-she called me the next morning! I mean, she'd read my email and immediately called to put me at ease. She told me she'd make sure it went out w/i the next two days, she put a RUSH ORDER tag on the thing and the next day it was assembled and being burn tested! The next day it was shipped out.

NO ONE does things like that anymore! I mean, she was all over it the minute she rec'd my email and she took care of things! Asya certainly gives good service! Wink

Thank you all for a great job on this lil' fire breather. I'm in radio and will happy to say a few things on the air about AVA Direct!

I'm just waiting for my wife to give me the word on ordering her new PC. It should be sometime next month. I have a few configured in my shopping cart, just for her to go over and make a decision...

Thanks again, Asya, Scott and everyone else at AVA... you all rock. Big%20smile ClapClapClap

Well, ordering time on my wife's system has taken about a month more, but it's great because I know where I'm ordering from and don't have to spend the time looking for a good company. I guess I could probably save the money by building the new one myself, as it's what I did for a living for 18 years, (network and systems design engineer-and 'boutique' pc builder), but I can't resist the warranty and since I'm retired from that now, it's nice to let someone else do the work for a change! Actually, it's nice being able to trust someone to do the work for a change... Big%20smile

I'll be giving you a call on Monday for the desktop. I'm going over now to see if you have net machines for sale... she wants one of those as well.

Looking forward to talking to you! Smile

Wylde, good to hear from you.  Sorry for the lack of response in this forum.  This is more a comments and we read it type than discussion.

As far as "Net" machines.... you mean netbooks and nettops?  We got them and can customize them to your likeness as well :)

Just rec'd mine yesterday after 3 1/2 weeks.  Guess they didn't test it?  On top of that tech support has taken a holiday as the one guy that may be able to figure it out hasn't called.  I'm looking at a very expensive doorstop and not feeling good about it.  Hope I'm the only one with this experience.

Hey it was nice to get a response today! LOL only been about a year and a half! Tongue

Since you brought it up, I do have a concern I want to bring up...
When I had my 2 computers built by you guys, I ordered DDR 3 RAM... 12800 1600 RAM that should've been 12800 bandwidth but I've since found out that it's only 10 something.. :(

I know it's too late (by the time I found out-I'd ended up pulliing the 6GB from the second one built and added 4 GB of 1066 since it's a Core I7-940 anyway-and I put it in my Core I7 965 EE, bringing it up to 12 GB. In benchmarking and through a hardware id program I found out the bandwidth is NOT what I ordered and paid for).

Anyway, like I said, I know it was past a year when I found out, but just thought I'd add that perhaps in the future, tell someone if their RAM isn't available. It could've caused a lot of problems with set up in the BIOS.

    Thanks!

BTW, both boxes still run great... although it's too bad the Core I7 975 came out a month after I got my I7 965-now an obsolete processor. If I wanted to upgrade and sell my 965, I'd never sell it when the 975's are availab;e (and for the same price!) thanks, Intel!
