Looking for help building a laptop to be used for photo editing & light video editing

I'm interested in a laptop that would be used for photo editing(Lightroom and some Photoshop), and a little video editing.  It would also be used with audio software to convert LPs to digital and general browsing.  No gaming.  My thoughts are:
i7 4700HQ quad core Haswell processor
16GB Memory
15.6" IPS display screen
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M + 2GB DDR3
256GB SSD
512GB Hard Drive
2 or 3 USB 3.0 ports
1  HDMI port
1 Mini-DisplayPort
802.11ac Wi-Fi
10/100/1000 Base T Gigabit Ethernet
Bluetooth 4.0

I omitted a DVD burner because I think in order to have a SSD and hard drive the DVD burner would have to be eliminated.  I've probably forgotten a lot of other items and details.  Hopefully this is enough to get started.

Hello Gary and welcome to the AVADirect forums!

We have several different notebooks that satisfy some, if not most of those requirements, however we do not have any that are a perfect match, including an IPS screen. Our vendors have stopped offering IPS options, so you likely won't find a notebook on our site that supports that display any longer.

As for the rest of the build, it's relatively easily achievable. Depending on how thick of a form factor you want to go with, adding multiple drivers may or may not be an issue. Seems like you're already familiar with the optical drive situation when 2 drives are present. However, we do have some notebooks that support multiple 2.5" drives by default, while still keeping the optical drive intact. Examples of such units are Clevo P157SM-A and P177SM-A just to name a few.

The notebook that most closely resembles your requirements would be the Clevo W670SJQ. In our configurator, you'll have the option to go with the 850M GTX card, as well as an i7-4710MQ, which puts you closest to the CPU you requested. This notebook does not have an IPS screen.

Another thing to keep in mind is that most of the custom notebooks we sell are equipped with mSATA slots. This allows addition of a small form-factor SSD without the compromise of the single 2.5" HDD slot on some of the slimmer model notebooks. You can get the mSATA drives in reasonable capacities while still keeping the optical drive in your system. Of course, if you simply don't care about the optical drive, then this doesn't really matter.

Ultimately, knowing the price range of the notebook you're looking for could help us narrow the search down a bit further, since these types of configurations can vary.

    Kind regards
