How good are these PC specs?

I currently have an:
Q6600 Quad Core 2.40GHz Processor
6Gb DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 5850 DDR5 1GB GPU
Asus P5E Motherboard
450W powersupply, Brand unknown

I want to buy this spec:
INTEL CORE I7 960 4 X 3,2GHZ
8 GB 2 X 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ KINGSTON HyperX,
ASUS P6T SE-Motherboard
GIGABYTE GTX 560 TI 448 CORES 1280MB 320-BIT (GPU)
Power supply is 650W, don't know the brand, and it doesn't have an HDD.

For around 320 Euros. That's around 400+ Dollars. The question is, how much better is the wanted system is it worth the money? I know the parts in both the Systems are pretty old, but I don't got anything better for now. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hello LPHRain,

A fair price for that system would be around $300-$350 USD. The processor and graphics card are far surpassed by the latest tech, and a processor and graphics card around $250.00 would provide much better performance for the system overall. If you are willing to invest additionally into the configuration, the GTX 960 graphics card would provide a huge improvement over the performance that system would provide, as it stands.

Thank you for the respond. How much would that card cost me? And do you have any suggestion in witch i could upgrade my current system? Is it better to upgrade to some newer stuff than investing in a new system?

Hello LPHRain,

A GTX 960 runs for about $250.00. If you want to spend as little as possible, I say purchase that system, shoot for upgrading the graphics card, and then you can re-use most of the system in the future, and just upgrade the motherboard, processor, and memory down the line.

Would an i5 with similar specs be better than this processor?

Hello LPHRain,

Both processors perform similarly, however the GTX 560 Ti graphics card performance better than the Radeon HD 7770, so I would proceed with the first build you referenced.

You are welcome, my pleasure!
