Shuttle mini PCs are the bread and butter of the small form factor industry. They provide the most simple solution for mATX boards integrated into proprietary chassis that allows us as a system builder to literally build upon the barebone. This specific end-user decided to choose the Shuttle SG41J1 for a multitude of reasons. It looks as if it will be used for light gaming, media applications, and storage. With the combination of the HD 4350 and green series drives, which are manufacturer for mass storage, I would lean towards media center. The customer also opted to upgrade the integrated NIC to a Gigabit capable interface to improve the internet connection, and decided to go with cost savings by utilizing a Core 2 Quad. The balance is thus restored with 8GB of RAM in the mix, to fix any concerns of having enough resource for this system. It’s very pleasing to see our customers have a great sense of knowledge when creating a configuration to their liking. It not only makes our task more simple, but it also makes it easier to communicate with them in terms of the build. That’s not to say customers who need more direction are not favored, this is what our sales, customer service, and technical support staff is here for. It’s like giving your child a bicycle for the first time, and watching them peddle away without guidance.
